It’s one thing to cook kid-friendly recipes. It’s even better to get the kids into the kitchen and teach them to cook for themselves. These recipes and links will help you get started on cooking with your kids instead of just for them.

Here are a few recipes on Culinary that you can make with your kids:

Remember when you thought frozen fish sticks and boxed macaroni and cheese was a good meal? I shudder at that memory now. Here’s a recipe for much healthier Fish Sticks in a Flash that the kids can help cook.

Or how about some lovely Strawberry Yogurt Crepes? Yes – kids can cook crepes!

Some kids get really creative in the kitchen. Here’s a contest-winning recipe for Po’Boy Peanut Butter Chicken Cheesesteak Sandwiches:

The Kids Cook Monday is a great resource to get families cooking together. It lists recipes by age range, so you can find recipes to make with your 4 to 7-year-olds, 8 to 11-year-olds, and 12 to 15-year-olds. The recipes also break down the tasks by what kids can do and what parents should handle. They have videos, too. Recipes include flavorful dishes like Jerk Chicken with Corn Carrot Rice.

To make it easier for kids to cook, look for some kid-sized kitchen equipment. The New York Times did a nice round up of Kitchen Tools for Kids, and it includes the Polliwog Knife and Glove, to make slicing safer:

At For Small Hands, you can find plenty of kid-sized kitchen tools, like this Cut n Roll Child-friendly Pizza Slicer:

And finally, over at Growing Cooks, you can find kid-sized oven mitts to protect their kid-sized hands:

Now you have no more excuses for not cooking with your kids. Come to think of it, neither do I…

So – have you started cooking with your kids yet? What’s your favorite thing to cook together?
