It’s one thing to cook kid-friendly recipes. It’s even better to get the kids into the kitchen and teach them to cook for themselves. These recipes and links will help you get started on cooking with your kids instead of just for them.
Here are a few recipes on Culinary that you can make with your kids:
Remember when you thought frozen fish sticks and boxed macaroni and cheese was a good meal? I shudder at that memory now. Here’s a recipe for much healthier Fish Sticks in a Flash that the kids can help cook.
Or how about some lovely Strawberry Yogurt Crepes? Yes – kids can cook crepes!

Cooking with Kids around the Web
There are some great online resources to give you more recipes and tips for cooking with kids.
Cooking with Kids is a web spin-off of the book, Cooking with Kids for Dummies. On the site you’ll find plenty of helpful tips and kid-approved recipes like Chinese Barbecue Pork and Cranberry-Cinnamon Poached Pears.
Cooking Teens Magazine is an online mag for teens who like to eat and cook. You’ll find original recipes as well as recipes from other resources, videos and other fun info. Check out some of their Breakfast in a Hurry recipes.
Food Network has a whole section on Cooking with Kids. In addition to a bunch of recipes from FN regulars, there’s a web exclusive series called Guy Fieri Cooks with Kids. Check out his recipes for chili, meatball heroes and chicken parm.
The Kids Cook Monday is a great resource to get families cooking together. It lists recipes by age range, so you can find recipes to make with your 4 to 7-year-olds, 8 to 11-year-olds, and 12 to 15-year-olds. The recipes also break down the tasks by what kids can do and what parents should handle. They have videos, too. Recipes include flavorful dishes like Jerk Chicken with Corn Carrot Rice.
To make it easier for kids to cook, look for some kid-sized kitchen equipment. The New York Times did a nice round up of Kitchen Tools for Kids, and it includes the Polliwog Knife and Glove, to make slicing safer:
